Change sidebar icon BUT leave original icon

How can I change the sidebar icons but have a different icon for the original folder? Like how do I change the Applications sidebar icon but leave the folder icon alone?

If you use CandyBar, change only the Application sidebar icon, but leave the folder icon alone. (I suppose...)

Re: Change sidebar icon BUT leave original icon
You can do this entirely with the Finder's built in features. First, make an alias of the folder you want to place in the dock. Click on the folder alias and choose Get Info from the File menu. Click on the folder icon in the Get Info window and then Paste the new icon you want to use (this presumes that you have a Copy of the new icon in the clipboard.) Finally, drag the folder alias (which should now have a new icon) into the dock.

But did you try it? It sounds to me like it would work. Or is that what happened when you edited?

Re: Change sidebar icon BUT leave original icon
Exactly, apparently when you drag an alias to the sidebar the system uses the icon associated with the alias' original. I should have made that more clear in my post, thanks for asking.
