I hope Apple can reach a conclusion such as this with the various rumour sites that is currently sueing. I recognize that there are issues in those that are, perhaps, more complex, but those site suits are similar in that enthusiastic Mac fans did something Apple regards as harmful, but they didn't mean harm.
Re: Apple settles lawsuit with developer over Tiger leak
I have to agree pretty much with everyone on this one. Seems like a fairly amicable outcome. It's too bad that it had to come to this but at least it Apple got its point across without being cut-throat and the young man had the stones to admit what he did was wrong.

In reply to:
If I had to guess, I'd say his statement was specifically a part of the settlement. It's very carefully worded, certainly not something this 22-year-old came up with on his own, and it serves Apple's goal of discouraging people like him from doing the same thing in the future. That statement was definitely written by the lawyers at Apple and handed to the guy, if you ask me.
Mr. Steigerwald's confession is eerily and painfully blunt... they must have scared him quite thoroughly.

In reply to:
Hmm, at least in the case of PowerPage and AppleInsider, the resolution could easily be had. All they have to do is reveal the source of their information and Apple will surely drop the matter with them. In the case of ThinkSecret, it might be more complicated consider they are actually suing as opposed to subpoenas in the other cases.

I don't believe it is likely that this will happen.

"Mr. Steigerwald, if we can't reach an...agreement, you'll never be allowed to use an Apple product again. No Mac OS X, no iPod, keynote speeches from Steve B. instead of Steve J...your life will be as if Apple did not exist. Think of what your choices will be, what meaning freedom can possibly have in such a world."
"......Gaaahhh......I'll talk, I'll Talk!!!"
