Icon stuck on hard drive

Is there a new way to change icons? For years I have been opening Info on the icon and the mac desktop hard drive, selecting the icon, copy, select the mac hard drive icon, paste. If I ever wanted the original mac hard drive icon back, I just opened Info, selected it, and chose Cut, now cut option is not available and I am unable to paste anything new, I am logged in as Admin, can anyone help? or am I just forgetting something?

Try copying, pasting, and then cutting.

Re: Icon stuck on hard drive
If you click/select the HD icon you should get the Cut feature as an option! ...and then the original HD icon should appear. I'm not sure what the snag is if you do have it selected.

{Edit} ...sweet..thanks for posting the fix

In reply to:<hr />
where set to Read Only, is that the right?

You re-set them correctly. Even though mine are dimmed and locked for the time being. And Others is set for 'Read Only' in the Get Info HD dialog box.
