If you click/select the HD icon you should get the Cut feature as an option! ...and then the original HD icon should appear. I'm not sure what the snag is if you do have it selected.

yeh, but now it is really messed up, iTunes will not open and I a cannot save anything on the couple of programs I checked. I tried to repair permissions, but when it repairs, it says it is using special permissions 33261, same with verify permissions.
I hope I can fix this by tommorow, I have guests coming over and one of them is considering a Mac and wanted to check out mine. But I cannot open and use my programs
UPDATE:
DOH! you must select "Apply to Enclosed Items" in order for changes to take effect, its almost always something simple with a Mac. If this where my Windows machine, I would be taking out the disks to re-format the drive about now:)
