Kernal Panic in shutdown - OS 10.4

Hi

I just using upgrade selection from 10.3.9 to OSX Tiger 10.4 on my Cube G4 because I have multiple accounts. I did verified and repair permissions before selecting upgrade. Every time I shut down, It said like "Warning - Please hold down power button for seconds or hold down restart button....usual kernal error. I know it not the hard drive problem as it is OSX problem.

Using 10.3.9 I had never have problem shutting down which goes perfectly on G4 Cube. I have more than one accounts. I didn't have any problems installing OSX Tiger on Blue & White G3 and shutdown is fine.

So why it doing that with kernal error comes up every shutdown errors.? Usually I had to restart and wait for that login and then shutdown ok sometimes. It is not memory issues and no track of any Symantec products or virex products on G4 hard drive.

Any suggestions?

Regards

The RAM might not have the "oomph" for Tiger, but I doubt it.

More probable it's just a bad install. Can you back up your data and wipe/clean install? That's what I always do and never have any issues.

Is it only when you shut down that you encounter this problem? Does the computer work fine otherwise? (I can't imagine it would.) Also, does this happen when you are logged in under each of the user accounts or only when you are logged into a specific account?

Finally, how are you drawing the conclusion that memory is unrelated to this issue?

If you have installed Virex or Norton anything (especially SystemWorks or AV), then I would unintall each. They are anathma to Tiger. The installers are available online at McAfee and Norton.
