Virtual PC + QB Pro 2005

My computer is an iMac G5 with 512 Ram. We have a small (just my husband and I on the payroll) business and I've been using QB for Mac with Aatrix Top Pay for several years.

I'm contemplating purchasing Virtual PC and QB Pro for Windows. I have a few questions, if anyone has any input:

1. Is the payroll feature in QB for Windows any good? In Aatrix TopPay I can access current forms and rates for State and Federal taxes, print them out and mail them. Is that possible with QB Payroll? Is there a fee for updating this information every year?

2. Can I transfer all of my current QB for Mac files to the QB for Windows? I'm assuming it would be similar to the process for preparing my QB file to my accountant's Windows computer.

3. What version of Windows should I buy with Virtual PC? I have limited Windoze experience, and want as few issues as possible!

4. I'm thinking QB Pro 2005 is the version of QB to buy (it should be the most similar to the QB Pro for Mac, right?)

DawnG,

If you plan to run Virutal PC, you will need to increase your memory to 2GB. VPC is a RAM hog. We run it on our iMac (2GHz, 2GB) and only run the QuickBooks Timer and VPC consumes almost 600MB of RAM. We run QB Timer on VPC because QuickBooks for the Mac has no timer. Very annoying. Our QuickBooks is st\il running on Windows.
