Tiger - Quake 3 voices sound like chipmunks

Morning, I updated my mac to tiger this weekend. Everything went fine. Except 1 thing. I went to play Quake 3 and all the voices in the game sound like "chipmunks" talking really fast! So I reinstalled the game and still the samething. Other games like Unreal are working good. If anyone has any hints or ideals to fix this?

This is on a DUAL 867 - 250gb HD - 1.75 RAM

Sounds like an enhancement to the gaming experience to me. Maybe it's one of Tiger's more obscure new features.
