Re: which mac for gaming
The biggest difference between an iMac and a Power Mac that sways gamers in the Power Mac's direction -- besides raw horsepower -- is expandability. The Power Mac can accommodate new video cards, while the iMac is fixed with what it has. The only thing you can upgrade on it is memory.

Having said that, the older iMac G5 was a solid mid-range gaming machine capable of playing anything that was out there. I haven't done any benchmarks with the new iMac, but enhancements like PCI Express, faster RAM, improved bus speed and so on should provide a modest improvement.

Re: which mac for gaming
while not a major demand on the video...
my daughter is an avid WoW player.
both are 1.8Ghz processors.
hers.. G5 iMac 20" 1G RAM
mine G5 dual processor with newly installed ATI X800XT 256M video card. and I am down to 1G RAM.
when she plays on mine with the Apple 20" display, she says there is no difference perceived.
go figure.
I bought it for some work stuff and it flies faster on it. and I use an Apple 20" and a medical grayscale 21"

guess she needs to learn Doom or some such eh?
wonder how WoW would look in greyscale? heh
