This is (and has always been) the BEST utility for the Mac OS. Free, or otherwise.

I wish this had come out a long time ago
Unfortunately Turly stopped developement several years ago with no indication he would be back. I was forced to moved on and found Fruit Menu from Unsanity which does much the same what FinderPop did and much more. I'm glad to see it return for the sake of those who need it. I wish Turly all the best. FinderPop is a great product.

P.S. I found that FinderPop and Fruitmenu don't mix.

FinderPop was one of the "programs" that I considered a "must-have."

Please use this and give money to shareware to ensure that it keeps coming.

Re: Mac Gems Weblog: Promising Prospect: FinderPop
FinderPop and FruitMenu's contextual menu items apparently conflict in some cases. Turly is aware of the issue, though, and plans to address it in a future update. I moved to FruitMenu, too, in FinderPop's absence, but the only FruitMenu contextual menu item I use is Preview Image which does not conflict with FinderPop. One feature I just noticed in the new FinderPop is that in the Desktop fly-out menu it shows all the volumes/partitions on my system, even though I don't have my internal drives showing on the Desktop. This feature is duplicated in FruitMenu's contextual menu items list and no doubt you would have to choose to use one or the other. There is also a Running Applications item available in FM which could conflict with Processes in FP. Since I like both FruitMenu and FinderPop, I think I'll find a way for them to coexist.

I also found that FinderPop and FruitMenu don't play together well. Not surprising considering they both have very similar functionality. For the moment, I've turned off Fruitmenu's contextual menu feature, and that seems to make FinderPop work as expected. Though they're very similar, I'm beginning to prefer FP over FM. I forgot how cool and useful this little gem was. Thank you for bringing it back Turly!

do not forget some to the great features provided by default folder x; which someone would integrate them all together (fruit menu, default folder and any of the contextual menu programs {deja menu is also helpful}.
