InDesign preflight tools?

I've been using GLUON's QC and QC Collect for my Quark preflight needs, so I need something similar for ID...

Recommendations?

It's built right into InDesign. File/ Preflight. Also when you are done use the same menu item to "Package" the job for your service provider.

"but I'm looking for something a little more thorough" IMO Flightcheck sucks. It's an app for those who don't have a clue what to look for, or don't know the proper way to build a file. I don't know how more "thorough" you need the preflight to be, but I've never had any issues just using the built in support.

IC what your talking 'bout now. best thing you can do is open all linked files in their native apps and check them there. Flightcheck must have come a long way if it can do what you described tho. The messed up part is the designer should have heeded the warning Indy gives when you import a PMS color with a different definition from whats used in the document.

Flightcheck could use some rework, but I find it fine. A good timesaver, especially if you are dealing with third party-supplied files.

If you are primarily creating PDFs for output, though, you may want to look into PitStop. I get good recommendations from some techs for this (can do some repair work as well), especially since many PDFs can have issues if not set up properly. Unfortunately, I cannot control this, being in a publication environment (ads submitted), so it's good to have tools that can handle this.

Re: InDesign preflight tools?
Yes, that would be the case. For the native files, though, FlightCheck will do the job. Some may say it's overkill, but I have had it find things for me before that may have been costly to fix if they fell through the cracks...

Re: InDesign preflight tools?
FlightCheck Pro is a standalone solution that preflights many different file types. For something that works like Gluon i.e. inside the application itself, try FlightCheck Studio. It is an InDesign plugin that preflights while you design. Details and a free demo are available here: http://www.markzware.com/fcstudio/
(There is also a version for QuarkXPress.)
