Re: FlightCheck Online Single Subscriber Edition debuts
InDesign flight checks. PDF-X goes through a similar process of checking the integrity of the file before it saves it into PDF-X compliant format. So I think this product is kind of pricey, not only for the initial purchase, but then you have to pay your annual tribute to keep on using it. I personally don't see much value. People that don't know how to setup digital output files will not benefit from this, it will only confuse them further. "What do you mean by the fonts not being embedded?" "What do you mean that my colors are not defined right. It prints fine on my printer!" "Why dose it look so bad, it looks fine on my screen." "What do you mean you don't have the fonts?"

Re: Markzware Blows
I was just given a catalog by a client that was created by another designer. All I wanted was to test the file to see what images were overscanned and what was underscanned. Since the 800 images placed in this catalog were variously scaled in InDesign just checking the files could tell me the answer. The pre-flight tools in InDesign couldn't tell me the answer.

I think, "let me try FlightCheck." I went to Markzware's website to download demos of each version of FlightCheck. Well, neither would run. And their tech support would neither answer my emails, nor even during 9-5 EST could I get someone to answer the phone: "Please leave a message and we'll call you back." No return call.

So my feelings about Markzware are "fat chance of me ever buy their products."

Re: Markzware Blows
This is not a consumer product they are introducing. Its a way for service bureaus and print houses to be able to get files from their clients that are pristine for printing and streamlining their work flow. But I question the validity or utility of these tools, specially at that hi of a price. Almost 8 grand is nothing to sneeze at. Besides it really doesn't fix the problem it only alerts your customer of the issues which we do anyways. An automated tool to do this for that price plus on top of that an annual fee. I don't think so. These utilities where invaluable before the advent of InDesign and PDF-X
