extremely annoying quake 3 sound problem

So I burned a copy of my quake 3 install folder to transfer to my powerbook for when i'm not at home (it just seemed easier than doing all of that powerpc patching all over again) and it works fine on there, but no all of the sudden, even though I haven't changed ANY settings or replaced ANY files, the sound on my g5 on quake 3 sounds awful, as in, extremly high pitched and scratchy.

Any ideas on how to fix it? I've tried:

Permission repair, replace the game folder with the one I copied from the powerbook, different speakers, etc.

I'd erase everything on my G5 related to the game and do a fresh install. I'd forget the Powerbook folders, in this case. They're the power book's.
I'd erase package receipts, installers, folders anything and everything related to it- Finder-Find it all!
Delete, delete, delete! Better- Secure delete!

What version are you running?
I'm running 1.32b no problems, but I think an earlier version was giving me a buzz.

Tis strange indeed.
Maybe try and rename your autoexec.cfg file to autoexec.backup in your baseq3 folder. Q3A will create a new one when it restarts.

Also check the console for errors right after the game starts. You could do a console dump to text file and cut & past it here for review. I think the command is something like "condump pickaname.txt".

Cool, a self healing Mac.

Would this be the PowerMac G5 with the sound problem, the PowerBook G4 with the keyboard problem or both?
