pioneer DVR 111D on G4 sawtooth. my review! :)

well, my junk external QPS external firewire CDRW drive finally died, after a year of more of acting up... Im glad It broke actually. it was 5 yrs old, and had a mind of its own... sometimes worked, sometimes not. burning cd's was something I dreaded. (valuable lesson learned, buy computer gear from a good company thats been around a long time. QPS was new and 5 yrs after the purchase, dont even mention the drive on their site. nor do they sell them anymore. )>

Just got my pioneer 111D from other world computing.... best $42.99 i've spent. installation was easy, their install movie was a big help. don't get any easier than this.

I installed on my G4 sawtooth... Im so happy.. I can burn cd's again..

no more wondering whether it will work today or not.

I highly recommend this drive.... I see no faults with it.

NOTE: the old QPS quefire drive that went bad after 5 yrs was a QPS quefire... firewire drive.. exernal, but upon breaking the case open, the drive was made by teac.

I would avoid teac in the future. for what its worth. IMHO.

c'mon... 5 years use and you badmouth the manufacturer?
it's tech stuff.... anything that gets 5 years out of it and I score it a good buy even if it rolls over and explodes.

that said... I truly enjoy the 111 I stuck in my G5 a while back.

thumbs up choice drive imo

My Macintosh IIsi is 16 years old. None of its hardware has ever failed, and neither have its peripherals, which aren't much newer. The IIsi is my yardstick for hardware reliability - if something of mine that's only a few years old fails while the IIsi is still running, I consider it a problem.

my Apple ][ still works as well.
if that was my yardstick, I would be badmouthing the world.
