Preflight Software Article, InDesign Problems

Hello, I'm new here. I was reading an article the other day after looking on google about a preflight problem. InDesign's CS2 built in preflight has some real holes in it that I had gotten burned by. InDesign CS 2 built in preflight is pretty good and I had started using it. Markzware's FlightCheck has become so slow and is not actually keeping up anymore. Also costs like $499 and every update is a paid one... InDesign's built in preflight has been working pretty good for me.

But if your customer places an RGB image inside an EPS or PDF (happens all the time). Adobe InDesign's built in preflight WILL NOT see that RGB. This is a gaping hole in preflight coverage. So, I found and downloaded a free utility that I read about in this article. It is free and very fast. All you do is drop a folder of placed images, like your links folder onto it, drag n drop. The application called FreeFlight will report back on images. DOES catch the embedded images that InDesign's built in preflight will miss. Below is a link to the preflight software for graphic design prepress article. Has anybody else tried this software? I am thinking I will email a link to all my printing customers so they can use it before sending me all these bad RGB files.

I used to use Markzware FlightCheck but it is totally confusing compared to this little FreeFlight app. I only need to know 2 or 3 things about images and FlightCheck is trying to check 200 things that are mostly benign to making good output. Anybody else used FlightCheck? It's still not compatible to Quark 7 after about a year that Quark 7 has been out.
