.m4a files to .mp3

I think I've read that you can convert .m4a files to .mp3 with iTunes, I couldn't find how to, could you people give me a hand ? thanks in advance.

Here is some info.

A .m4a can be simply renamed to .mp4 if it is an audio file. It is a compression system that is suppose to be slightly better than .mp3.

I just downloaded an Apple .m4v video file and converted it with QT to a .mov file.

Re: .m4a files to .mp3
Set prefs/advanced/importing to "MP3"
Hilite your M4a's in the main window
Main Menu/Advanced/Convert Selection to MP3

Unfortunately (from my perspective) the original
M4a's are still in your library and must be deleted
manually.
