Re: Mac 911 Weblog: Stop Entourage background churning
Although I don't use Entourage, the database had entries from when i first installed it. I often see my PPC processor rev up to 100%. When I check out iPulse to see what's going on, it indicates that system processes are running hot, though it doesn't list the active system processes. Would a background process such as this show as system?
For whatever reason, the option key procedure did not work, Entourage started everytime. I finally dug into the Office folder (yes, it's 2004), opened Database Utility and went through the options until I reached the last one. Typical of microsoft software, there is no need for another window to open for a single function with two options, Yes or No. This is why I have stuck with Apple's Mail & iCal, less feature bloat and a more intuitive design. Having better integration and features would be nice, even though this is my home 'puter. Entourage does seem to have the basics of Outlook with better concepts on integration. Other office apps likely access this database which is why db manager/utility needs them shut down. Now if I can get this database of 350 mb to slim down.. first I have to find it again...
