Flightcheck is leaps and bounds ahead of CS3 or CS2's builtin preflight. InDesign's preflight will tell you if you have a font missing, picture missing, or if a picture is RGB and that is it. You can't have it check for resolution, stylesheets or many other things. If you work in prepress you will want a profession preflight soluntion such as flightcheck or pitstop.

I'm a bit biased since I sell and train for Markzware. But as the other poster has said, it is vastly superior to what InDesign can do by itself. FlightCheck checks for over 150 different parameters for a plethora of native files, PostScript, PDF, PDF/X-1a and Microsoft Office files.
