Canon Pixma iP6700D ink-jet photo printer

The iP6700D printed some of the best photos we’ve seen out of all the midrange ink-jet printers we’ve tested. This printer’s flexibility, ease of use, affordability, and excellent photo-print quality make it a no-brainer purchase for photographers of every skill level. more

Re: Canon Pixma iP6700D ink-jet photo printer
Good review Brian.
The printer's output is simply superb and I agree that black text tends to be a tad light. I don't see however the fuzziness that other reviewers elsewhere complain about.( I use Epson's Premium white general purpose paper-left over from the Epson C84)
Some of the plastic parts do feel flimsy; the cassette holder being one part I thought would break apart. Have you noticed that when printing this printer can shake the table?? perhaps you folks set the printers on sturdy tables; mine is on a printer table w/ casters
Finally, you did not mention Bluetooth. The sneaks at Canon made the BT USB port quite slim so that if one owns D-Link's DBT-120 module, it won't fit (I tried) So i purchased Canon's BU-20. Set-up could not be any simpler and it works ever so well. The added advantage over the Epson is that I can use the cleaning utility which could not be done when with the C84 when printing wirelessly.
All in all I'm glad I picked this printer and even more happy to have jumped from the Epson ship.

In response to your comment about Bluetooth, I did mention the Bluetooth option in the chart below the review. As for what goes in the review, we typically evaluate the default setup and what's included with the printer at its rated price. You make a good point, though: I should be more explicit. I'll make sure to mention these options as minor notes in future reviews. Thanks for your input, Frank.

Thanks for this review, it's always comforting to be told that you made a good choice.

Is there any special reason you why you didn't mention that it also prints directly on cd's and dvd's. Although the application to do this is a little clunky, the results are quite good except in the darker shades where it tends to be a little light. And it sure beats scribbling with a marker. As it was one of the resons why I chose this printer, I felt it was worth mentionning it to others who reads your excellent reviews.
