What is a Warranty?
I don't get it... You sell a product with a warranty that it will be free of defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days or even 1 year. So after 3+ years of use a defect emerges, and it is considered a design flaw?

What is the point of having a warranty if not to cover this exact kind of thing? And if a company tells you up front that they are only willing guarantee the thing to withstand normal wear and tear for 1 year, how can they be liable for this kind of damage after that period?

Good for the Danes!

Now if only someone would put up a class action suit against Apple because of failing CD/DVD drives in the iBooks I'd be a happy camper. If you look at the ibook g4 discussions on Apple's website it looks like everyones (mine included) cd/DVD drives are failing at the same time.

Apple makes great products usually, but they sure have some dumb people in charge of customer relations.

I could be wrong on this, but my impression from reading the information about the charge is that the Danish Consumer Complaints Board felt that the problem with the solder joints was an original design flaw that manifested itself over time. Not quite sure how consumer law works in Denmark, but I'm pretty sure that it's that assessment that caused them to rule against Apple in this particular case.

Hi All,
First of all bravo and thanks for the nice site. (As a first word I had to say out what I see here.)
My Ibook was bought at November 2005. I wanted buy exactly the last edition with Motorola processor.
The Danish problem checked not the problem what has a lot of people included me. The problem in our case is that the airport card has a disconnection similar probably as the Danish case. The Airport card before was on the top of the memory. In this edition the Airport card is on the left near us part left from the mouse pad under the logic card where is very warm. A technician told me but he can not say publicly that his opinion also that this is a construction failure. The problem I see that some people has problem to find out where the problem is, some people not care to pay for the repair because they do not know, do not understand why it happening. (I am electronic technician) So just a few pople left to complain.
If nothing will happen I will open and try to repair. But hope Apple will act to save his name.
