Hear hear on AT&T Killer. It's like offering up the second coming, if you are willing to jump off a cliff to receive it. Let's get t-shirts made:

If Paris can get out of Jail, the iPhone can get out of AT&T.

Re: iPhone killer?
Typical Asian knock off garbage.

It was hilarious in the videos watching the guy having to practically mash the screen in order to get it to respond, then reading how he apologizes for the poor quality saying, "it works better with your thumb."

The UI is terrible, completely inconsistent, filled with tiny, hard to press Windows buttons, and as for that "3D interface," its nothing more than the "Cube" effect Apple introduced with Fast User Switching in Panther.

I believe that many of these devices will be made just to give us an alternative to ATA&T, not the iPhone. If "killer" must be used maybe it should be labeled "AT&T killer."

Whether it's an AT&T killer really remains to be seen: since the Touch is a tri-band GSM phone, the only options for service in the US are T-Mobile and...AT&T. That said, yes, calling it an iPhone killer is somewhat ridiculous; perhaps 'rival' would have been a better choice.

Dan, where can I buy these mini USB fridges in the U.S.? The manufacturer seems to be based in Hong Kong, and I do not feel like going to that place again.

The manufacturer is indeed based in Hong Kong, but it looks like you can have it shipped to the US (for just $3?), as long as you have a PayPal account. Not aware of any other sources for it, though.

Re: iPhone killer?
The HTC Touch demo was so great that... Oh wait, I couldn't see it. I clicked on their website and clicked on Select Your Language and was not able to select a language or do anything. Oh wait, only the small little ARROW selects your language, not "Select Your Language". DOH!

Wow, they've got that interface design thing down pat, don't they?

I bet this thing will be on Letterman's "Will it Float?" next week, but I think we already know the answer.

Re: iPhone killer?
Apple already killed the iPhone by going exclusive with AT&T and their EDGE technology. Browsing the web is going to be horrid with those speeds. We've already placed our order for them at work.

Wifi is pretty ubiquitous these days. If I were to get the iPhone, I'd use Wifi over 90% of the time. It'd be great to have faster EDGE, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker.

Is it?. I can't seem to get it when I'm on the highway.. but forget the highway, i can't get in in supermarkets (luckily, i have a phone that uses internet that does not depend on wifi).. It is certainly not ubiquitous at the car repair shop, or the movie theatre or the mall (some malls are fortunate to have wifi) or at my favorite restaurant or at costco when i would like to compare prices or at circuit city or at best buy or just walking down the street.

What is your definition of ubiquitous?.

Ubiquitous
adjective:
present, appearing, or found everywhere.

Remember I said I have access to Wifi 90% of the time.

Why would you be surfing the web on the highway? It's bad enough that every week I almost get killed by some idiot talking on their cell phone.

The rest:
Supermarket : Yes I've seen it (Starbucks next door)
Lexus dealer ship, Direct Tire both have free wifi
Mall yes (especially since every mall near me has an Apple store in it)
Home : Check
Work : Check
Most bookstores : Check
Most Airports : Check
Hospitals : Check

If you need to surf the web for extended periods at a restaurant that's your business. Price checking can (should) be done before you go shopping, but if not, EDGE will serve you well for a quick check. My point is that EDGE needs to work well enough until they get a better solution. If you need EDGE 90% of the time, plan for a crappy iPhone internet experience, if you only need EDGE 10-20% of the time you're a good candidate for early iPhone adoption.

Personally I need the iPhone to replace my Treo and that means 3rd party application support, because I use my Treo more as a PDA then a phone at this point.

1. I could be a passenger in a car (i know, in individualistic america, almost unheard of in a country where everyone has their own car)
2. How lucky of you.. where do you live, in wi-fi ville?.
3. If you don't use the treo as a phone, you are wasting your money. If you just need a phone, a iphone is a waste of money (why pay 500 when you can get it for free?). For this to make sense, you might as well sell the Treo if you gonna get an iphone (although i see the quandry lack of third party apps would place you in). This is why i am not a potential iphone customer. Why would i pay 500 for a device that requires me to still retain my Treo (i have one also by the way). When apple comes to their senses and realize that not everyone is willing to pay 500 for a backup device, well, then i'll consider them.

I think wi-fi is too sparse, notwithstanding where you live. It is not nearly close to being ubiquitous. By any measure of coverage (by population, area, market penetration, etc) wi-fi is not ubiquitous, even where you live. for something to be ubiquitous, one shouldn't have to look for it, it should just be there. When i am travelling and i want to talk on my cell, i don't go looking for a sign that says "cell coverage here". Now, that is ubiquitous.
