Re: Macware offers FontLibrary collection
This appears to be a typical rip-off collection, taking advantage of the shoddy US-copyright laws. Most of the fonts are 'renamed' classics or otherwise adapted from existing fonts. And the distributor takes a very telling stance in the license agreement: there is no warranty whatsoever for the user.

Stay clear of this. The designers of the original fonts probably don't receive a dime for their work.

Re: Macware offers FontLibrary collection
Exactly right. There isn't a single real font in the whole collection. Not one. To stretch things out, each font is digitally stretched, condensed and obliqued. I think what's new is that they converted them all to OpenType, then have the nerve to claim on their site that OpenType provides "advanced typographic control where a single font file may contain many nonstandard glyphs such as small caps and stacked fractions." Fat chance!

Re: Macware offers FontLibrary collection
Somewhere between 80% and 100% of the fonts in this collection are ripped-off, run through a meat grinder of artificial effects (bolding, slanting, expanding, condensing) then renamed. Designs painstakingly created by legitimate, hard working folks whose good works have now been bastardized and bludgeoned by people so completely lacking in typeface design knowledge and skills as to be repulsive.

Though not illegal, the insidious nature of the collection is a betrayal of trust, ethics and aesthetics. The developers should be ashamed of themselves for producing it and I'm sorry to see MW spreading their PR BS.

Ignorance is not bliss, it is ignorance.

Wow. I see the Font police is out in force today.

Just kidding. I concur with you guys. As a designer, their is nothing more repulsive then to see your work used with out permission or remuneration. I personally stick to Adobe fonts. Particularly their Open Type fonts seem of the highest quality.
