Start Up Chime

Is it possible to turn off the start up chine? Thanks.

mute the sound and at startup you will not hear it.

I've tried that many times. Chime just keeps on chiming. Any suggestion as to why?

There's also StartupSound.prefPane, which I prefer over having another app in my log in items.

be aware that if you use something like start up chime stopper it will be difficult to zap your pram should you ever need to.

Try running Repair Permissions from Disk Utility.
