Here's an update.
With Tiger, when I hit the sleep button, my Mac goes to sleep after a few seconds. After living with Leopard, I learned sleeping is not instantaneous. Apparently, with Leopard my Mac goes to sleep after a minute or two. I guess I was impatient and jumped to conclusions with my previous post.
Even though sleeping works, I'm a little bothered by the sluggishness. All in all, I've noticed that Leopard is snappier than Tiger, but in some ways it's not.
