Crossing my fingers that someone comes out with a hack that lets you use the guitar with GarageBand.

That's an interesting idea, but you realize that this isn't a real guitar, right? It's basically a keyboard with a few keys in the shape of a guitar and it's not going to teach you to play the guitar.

True, but a GarageBand plugin that would let you tag your songs for playing in Guitar Hero would be cool though.

Re: Aspyr ships Guitar Hero III for Mac
Nice to see them support the Mac, but like another poster said, check the specs, CPU requirements are pretty high and if you have a Macbook or older hardware, it won't work...

It says the same for games such as Prey, but they work perfectly fine on a Macbook (or did on my 2 GHz MB C2D with 1 gb RAM) with medium settings. Anyone know if this is the case for GH3? Guess we'll need to see until someone tests it

I have the same MacBook. What are "medium" settings like (assuming it works at all)? My girlfriend has offered up GH3 as a Christmas present, but it's prohibitive to buy both the game and a console.

Full resolution/screen... the game just had a Medium graphics option that toned down the shading and stuff. Looked perfectly fine, ran perfectly fine. GH3 is definitely a game where you don't need any of the frill, just the game to work and not lag so 'sacrificing' graphics to medium wouldn't be a hassle, any less I'm not sure when it's cheaper to get for PS2 (or perhaps if I do decide to get a PS3)

Hi
To be fair, the XBOX 360 version lags when using the console on 1080p and that's optimized for the hardware which the 360 has a tri-core 3.2GHz CPU and 512MB of very fast RAM.

On something of a side note, I find the Boss Battles to be a negative addition to the gameplay.

Quick question: I guess after reading this thread I kinda realized I'm a console gamer. What is the appeal of playing a game like GH on the Mac (or PC) instead of a console? I'm just curious...

Well, the most obvious thing would be if you don't already own a console. But GH3 can also be played on the keyboard (not nearly as fun, but certainly doable), so you could even really take it with you on the road if you have a MacBook Pro.

Thanks, Peter.

I figured if you didn't have a console but that's what I didn't really "get" about GH. I knew you could play it with a controller or with a keyboard but I was kinda wondering what fun that was? lol..

Anyway, thanks for the post.

Have a good day.

Another thing is that the USB controller could also be used on the Xbox 360 if you have friends who have the 360 GH3. This way you could play on your Mac and go to your friend's house with your guitar and play there too

Re: Aspyr ships Guitar Hero III for Mac
So would GH3 work on an original MacBook (Black, 2GHz, 1GB RAM), or does it need better VRAM?
