OS X 10.5 and *.gz

I'm a n00b and do admit it, on a PC I do fine to somewhat real good but my IMac is a new animal.

Question:
Appreciate your replies in advance.
This machine came with 10.4, also it came with the Leopard upgrade disk... so I installed it of course :) !!
On 10.4 i could pull a file off a web page in a format i could use in Excel, my download would be, <filename>.csv.gz

Now I upgrade to 10.5 and I get <filename>.csv.gz.html :(

What do i need to do to get 10.5 to recognize a gzip, please walk me thru step by step as I am not a good Mac user yet.
I need to get rid of the .html tag at the end of the file, I'm pulling more information off the web site than I want. A filter could be made to do what I want, but I'm sure there's something I'm not doing that would be a easy fix. Safari just doesn't seem to like me!

Thanks,
Crash

Can you point me to an example of the file online so I can simulate what you are asking?

just one quick question: if you manually remove the .html will it "behave" normally (as before)?

Re: OS X 10.5 and *.gz
nice it got solved but basically it was all about removing the .html ending, the dialogue ask if you want to use the new or keep the old...I have this issue at one site where I have removed the .html tag and it works

Re: OS X 10.5 and *.gz
well we canīt all be Mac fanatics ; )....main thing is it works which is the main point. Personally I think it is some MS specific servers that react this way since Leopard. As mentioned for me it only occurs on one site (which I now is MS eccentric)
