Re: Expo Notes: A Bluetooth keyboard for the iPhone?
I want a foldable, full-size keyboard for the iPhone/iPod Touch that connects through the dock connector. I'd much rather have that than Bluetooth, which is a pain in the neck, bringing more interference, one more battery to worry about and additional battery drain in the iPhone itself. Not to mention Bluetooth means it won't work with the iPod Touch.

Re: Expo Notes: A Bluetooth keyboard for the iPhone?
Another vendor at Expo said that Apple was trying to figure out some sort of licensing model for the iPhone before rolling out Bluetooth keyboard support -- in other words, a way for Apple to make money on Bluetooth keyboards for the iPhone.

Interesting to see if the MacAlly person was misinformed or spilling beans.

Re: Expo Notes: A Bluetooth keyboard for the iPhone?
I would prefer a Bluetooth keyboard, myself. I hate wires; they are so 20th century. I would be a little surprised if Apple was trying to get royalties from Bluetooth connectivity. Imagine what would happen if every cell phone manufacturer wanted royalties from every Bluetooth headset manufacturer. I'm hoping that Apple just needs to add iPhone support for the Bluetooth keyboard stack. I just received my iPhone a couple of days ago and had the same thought: With a keyboard I might not need to bring a laptop with me on every trip I take, now that I can check email and the Internet with my iPhone.

What about iPhone support for the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard? I have one of those for my iMac and I would be very happy to pop that into my carry-on instead of a laptop.

If Apple made an iPhone keyboard, who'd need a MacBook, Air or otherwise?

Re: Expo Notes: A Bluetooth keyboard for the iPhone?
Nearly everyone who needs one now. If someone bought a laptop just for checking email and a little Web surfing, then they would probably get by with just an iPhone. Anyone who does real work on their notebook will still need it. As far as word processing goes, the iPhone's screen is okay for writing notes, but I wouldn't find it adequate for serious writing, even with a Bluetooth keyboard. It all depends upon how you use your portable computer.

It's nearly May, and still no follow up to this article. Despite the idea of an external keyboard being a top-10 requested feature, and the fact that this article pops up every time one does a search on the subject, where's the update?

That BTKeyMini product isn't even mentioned on the MacAlly website. Is it late, or did they figure out that it doesn't, in fact, work with the iPhone?

Re: Expo Notes: A Bluetooth keyboard for the iPhone?
Mid-June and still no news on a Bluetooth keyboard for the iPhone? This is the ONE reason why I can't buy the iPhone. With my stinking Windows Mobile I don't have to bring a laptop 99% of the time when I am on the road, thanks to a $75 (eBay price) foldable keyboard from Freedom Universal.

With the iPhone I would have to carry my full size, and very expensive laptop. Then I'd have to worry about it when I leave it at the hotel. Aside from the cost it has a lot of sensitive data and I don't want to take that risk unless I absolutely have to. Come on Apple, unlock that Bluetooth feature on the iPhone!

Btw folks, the Freedom Universal keyboard also works with the Blackberries.

Thanks for the info. It seems a bit small for touch typing. We'll have to wait and see.
