I first heard about CARS from Dori Smith and Tom Negrino, who suspected that CARS was written by myself and Phil Michaels. Flattering, but no, we generally restrict our fake-news writing for April 1.
Anyway, my favorite CARS moment:
iTunes Music Store Never, Ever Coming to Canada
http://www.crazyapplerumors.com/?p=507
As the iTunes Store first rolled out internationally, every single story we wrote about it was greeted with howls of protest from Canadian readers, who were furious that they were not being considered by Apple. After the third or fourth of these stories, I fantasized that Apple would retaliate by declaring that Canada would never get the iTunes Store.
So seized with this concept was I, that I wrote an entire fake news story in the style of CARS, and sent it to John Moltz. And what do you know, which some fine editing by John (to insert jokes about Phil Schiller, natch), he ran my piece.
My second-favorite moment, "Apple Buys Norway":

I didn't write the story, just the headline, but John Moltz ran with it.
Moltzie, we hardly knew ye. Rest in peace.
What? He's not dead? Well, then I take it all back. Jerk.

By far my fav post and the one that is a part of our company's culture now is the
"New iMacs Bigger, Faster, But Smell Like Ass."

We worked with a guy named randy, so this kept coming up.
RIP Moltz.
