Re: Review: Audioengine W1 Wireless Audio Adapter
Maybe I missed it, but I'd like to see coverage of the Griffin Evolve, a wireless speaker system that not only sounds great, but operates with minimal latency.

Minimal latency is absolutely critical, as you want the sound to be synced with video (e.g. for playing movies).

But even more importantly, minimal latency is absolutely required for musicians who play virtual instruments on their computer, as they need to hear the sounds transmitted as fast as possible to the speakers. The Evolve meets my criteria here (and I'm also a drummer, so understand how latency effects playability).

FWIW, I was VERY disappointed trying to use the Apple Airport Express with AirFoil for the same task: it offers too much latency (as I recall, it was something like 500 msec!).

The Evolve is definitely worth a look, IMO, especially if you can get the Evolve speakers separated far enough to allow them to offer better imaging (they sound VERY poor if auditioned while sitting on the speaker holders).

The latency of the Audioengine W1 wireless adapter is just under 20mS, which is fine for audio sync with video as well as live audio.

Well that's good info to know before buying! I probably wouldn't have bought the APXP if I knew about it's delay.,.. FWIW, the Griffin Evolve is an integrated system that includes not just the transmitter/receiver, but the speakers, too. You can dock your iPod in it, and control it with a remote that works from 100's of feet away, even thru walls...

We indeed have an Evolve in for review.
