Will migration assistant work moving from Leopard to Tiger

I installed Leopard on a powerbook g4 1.5 ghz with 768 mb of memory. It runs very slow so I want to reformat and install Tiger. The Leopard volume is backed up to a external drive but has the Leopard OS. Will migration assistant be able to move files from a newer operating system to an older one?

Will the iTunes music files be moved and will it require getteing in to the deauthorization mess, Thank you, Mike Bushey

Going backwards isn't recommended: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25773#faq3

There are a few options listed that work, ie. ethernet.

Have you considered maxxing out your memory, maybe changing out the hard drive for a faster one.

After installing leopard have you done all the requisite utilities i.e. repairing permissions, disk utility to check the hard drive etc.?

I'm surprised you're having this problem. I just installed Leopard on a Powermac G4 1.2 GHz and it is running faster than it was on Tiger. The same is true on my friend's powerbook G4. Did you do an upgrade or a fresh install when you installed Leopard? I wouldn't give up on Leopard so fast. I find that the newer OS handles things better and more efficiently, making the computer run faster, not the other way around.

You could always just bring Leopard onto the computer, and then use the original discs to archive and install the OS, which would downgrade it.

Thank you for the help, I did repair permissions with CockTail, and rebuild directory with DiskWarrior. The install was a clean install, I am happy to hear that Leopard does run better than Tiger on machines not as new as mine. I will keep tweaking and press on, thanks again.
