Re: América Móvil to bring iPhone to Latin America
I don't know in the rest of Latin America, but here in Mexico the prices in Telcel, the subsidiary of America Movil, are outrageous, as a result of Slim's near monopoly on fixed and mobile lines. I hope is a non-exclusive deal and Telefonica's Movistar get the iPhone too, or that at least Mr. Jobs exerts his magic and makes Slim stop gauging us.

Re: América Móvil to bring iPhone to Latin America
Bringing the iPhone to Latin America is not as simple as signing a contract with a cell provider (as if that was simple.) As I understand, the iPhone is part of an ecosystem and is nourished by iTunes. Authorizations, (future) software downloads and media downloads (an important revenue stream) must be done through iTunes. The average Jose doesn't know or want to rip movies. Actually, he's not supposed to, but I digress. So Apple also needs to sign up with the record and movie companies to bring the "iPhone experience" as a whole. And we've all heard how these negotiations can be.

I totally agree with you, I live in Colombia and I have an account with the US iTunes Store and the experience is very enjoyable and simple (I own two iPods, the Touch included), hope that Apple can get fast iTunes Store for all latin american countries, why not an only iTunes Store for all Latin America???
