Having run into the problem of earlier Mickysoft Templates being graphicly scrambled when transferred to Office 2004 -Mac, and having to reformat them before use.
I was delighted to find that the Neo-Office program, very accurately imported the templates as originally designed on Word 97 & 2003. And could be saved into the Neo Default format or Saved into an Updated Word version.
If in the Save File Preferences the "Convert to Star from Word" options are Un-checked & the "Save As Word" options are checked, This program operates accurately on & provides Interchangable Word format documents without screwing them up.
So whilst I have moved to a new MacBook Pro V4.1 and my MS Office 2004 for Mac Application, did not transfer correctly, I have not yet had to reinstall it in order to produce any new work or access our many years of essential Office & Personal files.

Not being a user or familiar with VBA, I am not able to report on Neo-Offices capabilities in that function.

However I seriously doubt that I will be rushing to purchase a new edition of MS Office 2008

The MacOffice Pro, Mac alternative upgrade for OSX 10.5 has still not been completed yet. This could be an interesting challenge to consider as it may well include an equilivent to MS Publisher.

Hi...

AutoUpdate was unable to install 12.1.1

Per the earlier notes on this:

1) Correct Language?
-- Yes. I use autoupdate, and it was English
2) Microsoft Office 2008" folder installed in the boot partition and Applications folder?
-- Yes. I have never changed, renamed, moved or done anything to any of the MSOffice folders or components.
3) Have you renamed the Microsoft Office 2008 folder?
-- No
4) If you have modified in any way the files inside the Microsoft Office 2008 installation....
-- I have not modified anything.
5) Have you performed other updates to Office 2008 prior to the 12.1.1.
-- No. I had installed 12.1 on May 5, using autoupdate.

Here are the current versions installed:
Last update applied: Monday, May 5, 2008 7

Microsoft Entourage.app: 12.1.0
Microsoft Excel.app: 12.1.0
Microsoft Word.app: 12.1.0
Microsoft PowerPoint.app: 12.1.0
Microsoft Messenger.app: 6.0.3

Any suggestions on what to do would be welcome. Can't understand why following by the book AutoUpdates each time would make me have to uninstall and reinstall MS Office.

I think it has to do with languages and whether or not you have removed non used languages. I had used a program called delocalizer and I ended up having to reinstall Office, (twice), before I could get the update to work. So I would suggest uninstalling office, use the uninstal app, then reinstalling Office then reinstall BOTH updates. Do the 12.1.0 update first then the 12.1.2 update.

Finally worked for me.

I also can not get it to update - getting the same response as others. I JUST installed 2008 in the last month and have done nothing to it before attempting this update. good grief.

I've used Delocalizer and had no trouble with the Office updates. Since it works for some people and not for others, even some who have followed all the rules, I suspect there may be something going on outside of Office itself that is affecting the installer. What this might be I can't say, but doing some routine maintenance on the boot volume might straighten it out. At a minimum, boot from the OS X install DVD and run Disk Utility to repair the disk and repair permissions. A session with DiskWarrior couldn't hurt, either.

Don't anthropomorphize computers - They hate that.

I am using office 2008 and have installed the update. Spaces between words are still NOT preserved! I have several pptx files that look fine on the Mac but when opened in Office 2007 on the PC many lines are missing spaces.
