How do lyrics fit into this picture? Are lyrics meta-data or something else? I don't believe that MetaX 2.4.5 supports adding lyrics to .m4a, .m4b or .m4v files. I see two separate issues here as follows:

1) Are lyrics meta-data and, if so, shouldn't tagging software such as MetaX assist in adding this information as the iTunes app will do (save a trip to a second app). We should also bear in mind that the lyrics function can be used to attach any body of text to an audio or video file. The value of this to annotation by the artists, teachers and music collectors would be substantial.

2) Assuming that lyrics are meta-date, should applications such as MetaX retrieve lyrics residing on the net? Here, too, those lyrics could be literal lyrics or annotations done by critics, teachers, etc.

Let me put the question another way. Are Lyrics not meta data? If not, what are they?

In any case, having to use iTunes for Lyrics and MetaX for (other?) meta data seems like it should be unnecessary.

We should also thing of the Lyrics field as having more possibilities than simply a literal text version of audio.
