DG is the prettiest, I think, and will make very casual chess players smile. But ChessGenius is the King of iPhone/iPod Touch chess. It's good looking and has much deeper tools for analysis and review. You can also email games (in PGN format) from the device.

Well, I have all chess apps (I am aware of) and agree that ChessGenius is the strongest player, but it is more a shrunk desktop app than a "designed for iPhone" app. There is just too much info on the screen and this limits usability on the road quite a bit - I use it at home though (it still has a much better layout than e.g. Caissa and Chess Classics). For a quick play on the go Deep Green is not that weak - once you set the AI to the highest level, it will certainly beat most people with ease. The default setting is really for absolute beginners. What makes it really shine is it's beautiful, simple and clean design and the great usability. My remark (as quoted in the article) was about apps designed exclusively for the iPhone - Richard Lang's ChessGenius does exist for all (?) mobile platforms.
It's also the only (?) iPhone chess app that works in both portrait and landscape mode.
Actually chess boards are square
It does rearrange the additional info fields and controls, but there is no change in the usable size of the board and pieces when switching between portrait and landscape, so it does not really help too much. But I would love, if Deep Green could exchange game data via email (or a server) too...
