CD-R dont work on Windows ...

Hi
I had to find out that a CD burned on my iBook running MacOSX is not quite readable on a windows computer. (File structure is visible, but files are empty (of 0kbyte size)). This bug is listed on the Apple support website
(apple's support) and I did what they say, update to v10.2.2.
But the CD burning issue is not fixed. Any others with that problem? I am really annoyed, a bug like that and no fix!

yeah it is a bit of an annoyance... my underestanding is that jaguars built in burning software isn't iso9600 or whatever compatible... and that's why cd-r won't work on windows... you'll have to use toast...

Re: CD-R dont work on Windows ...
10.2.1 and 10.2.2 work fine for me burning CD
s compatible with windows. I noticed however, that older windows PC's may have troouble with the ISO 9660 CD's as you describe; an example, my wife's Sony Vaio laptop (CD/DVD Rom Drive) has no problems at all reading these CDS all the time. Sometimes however the older PC's at work can only read the first directory. This is a function of the actual older mechanisms having difficulty with the media.

Double check.

If you still have problems, I am not sure why it didn't fix with the 10.2.1 upgrade for you

you do not say if you are copying a cd or burning files from the hard drive. If you are copying a CD use disk copy and make a CD image. Then burn it. It will work on a windows pc unless it is mac os related files.

There was a definite bug in 10.2 that prevented some versions of Windows from reading CDs burned on a Mac, but 10.2.1 fixed this. If you are running 10.2.1 or later then I don't know what to tell you...

Apple dropped pure ISO 9660 burning in Jaguar- don't ask me why. The hybrid HFS/ISO format used now is not as compatible.

Re: CD-R dont work on Windows ...
I ran into some problems regarding folders inside CDs burned from Mac OS X.

Windows read the disc fine, but then complained when I tried to open a folder on the disc. We figured out that there were some files with names that had illegal characters for Windows.

So there could be a few filesystem problems. In general, everything's worked pretty well for me.
