Re: Portables and Handhelds Roll Call (Again)
Hi,
I'm Trinculo. I teach Comparative Literature. My first computer was a IIc (nothing has ever been the same since), and my current Mac is a PowerBook 400 (I'm planning to substitute it for an iBook soon (I like the portability/durability), but I'm (desperately) holding out for the next case revision (I know... I know...). Favorite beverage? Hmmm. Alcoholic: Fuller's ESB; non-alcoholic: Nantucket Nectar Lemonade (though it is better with a drop of Burbon). My first memories of these forums were jargr's notebooks. Made an indelible impression. I enjoy the community of Mac users -- a strange bond isn't it? At some point, when I have a little time to dedicate to it, I would like to start a forum where we all get together and talk about what it is that brings us together, how we view our Macs from a philosophical perspective etc. Anyway -- a merry X-mas to all. Peace!

Re: Portables and Handhelds Roll Call (Again)
Hi. I'm Memo (short for Guillermo) I am a 28 yo, surgical resident by profession, musician by heart. My current setup includes:

iBook 600/Combo/640/20/12.1"/OSX
QUE 60GB firewire drive (7500RPM)
ZIP100 (USB), ZIP250 (SCSI), USB floppy
NEC 17" Flat CRT monitor
External USB keyboard, trackball, scanner, printer
Palm Vx and Handspring Neo
20GB iPod
Nikon Coolpix 995
Tascam USB428 (audio/midi interface, control surface)
JBL monitors/Alesis amp/polk audio pwrd subwoofer
Korg Triton proX, etc......

ALL HOOKED UP TO A SIMPLE, HARMLESS LOOKING iBook with a double personality: general laptop use by day (browsing, presentations, WP) and music workstation by night (less and less often lately ).

Wish list: airport (no use right now, small apartment), DV (no time, maybe later).
Palm tungsten looks tasty.
iPod (and iTunes) have changed completely my approach to music organization. Would never have it any other way.

Favorite drink: coffee. And tequila, of course (Don Julio).

So few mac users here in mexico. First owned mac: Mac Plus, with 1 MB of ram (I was 15, maybe 16?).

Salud amigos!

Re: Portables and Handhelds Roll Call (Again)
Well here it goes!
My first computer was an Apple IIe, which is still being used in my classroom. They live forever! My next computer was a 520c laptop which another teacher is using now. Next was a Wallstreet G3 and now I am using a Ti 500 "classic". I am thinking about upgrading to a Ti 1000. I also have a imac 800 for editing and burning CDs and an ipod 5 gigs. My favorite drink...Dr. Pepper.

Re: Portables and Handhelds Roll Call (Again)
Hi, I started following these forums when I first started playing w/OS X and then soon after picked up a TiPB 667. These formus are great and I am liking the improvements!

I am going back to school to get an MBA/TM online and have been doing it from my couch =). You experience a unique freedom with wireless conectivity and simple portability. Since I could not get enough $ on eBay for my 667, I have vowed to keep using the same laptop until I graduate, then I will try to upgrade again - barring any random acts of wealth!

Nice to see everyone.

Greetings, Happy hOWLidays

Current Line Up...(as the Allan Parsons Project Plays, a la Chicago Bulls, when they were good)

At guard, Sony Clie 610
At guard, Epson Phot Stylus 780 Printer
At foward, Lexmark 42 Printer
At Forward, iPod 5 GB
and at Center, iBook 800/12.1/combo/640/30

Just traded a Pismo, and have put on wavers a PowerBook 1400 G3, but I still have my first draft pick, a Mac SE.
