Remote access via VNC or other protocol

Ok, so I need to find a way where I can access my school's Mac OS X Leopard server from my Dell Deminsion D600. I'm the only manager of the server, and I know how to access it from other Mac's, but the only Mac computers are in that department, anyway. I need to be able to connect from accross the school or at home (about a mile away). Anyone have any ideas on a way to do this (other than Hamachi)?

Why not just use VNC? You can setup vpn on the server or use a VPN Gateway/Router for security so that the password is not sent out in the clear. Then download "TightVNC", "RealVNC" or one of the other VNC clients to your pc.
