yes, but there appears to be nothing, I'm wondering if the issue with battery life means there aren't many left out their and the new ones coming down in price. Oh well i'll keep looking.

There just might not be anyone selling theirs. As to batteries, there are third party solutions to replace the battery for the 1st Gen iPods.
