Metal desk and MacBook and wireless mouse

Interesting thing I noticed tonight. I jsut received an old doctor's office metal desk for my office. Working tonight at the desk, I noticed my MacBook being slower than normal. Any evidence of metal desks interfering with the operations of MacBooks.

My main issue is my mouse. I have a Microsft Desktop Optical mouse that works with the MacBook, but not when the mouse is on the same metal desk. The mouse will not work at all. I have even tried putting a mouse pad under the mouse and still the same actions--nothing. Move the mouse off the desk and it works. I plugged another USB mouse into the MB and it worked while being on the desk. I am thinking about contacting Microsoft to see if they have an idea. I wonder if I putting a desk pad on the desk it would work. My only issue there is the mouse didn't work with a mouse pad under it, so why would it work with a desk writing pad under it.

Any suggestions beside buying another mouse with a wire and using the built in mouse track pad.

Thanks

Re: Metal desk and MacBook and wireless mouse
If I read correctly, that MS mouse is a radio frequency device and needs a receiver
plugged into your USB port. Metal will mess with that.

Get a blue-tooth mouse. It'll work automagically with your laptop. Leslye likes the
cute little Macally CG-25.
