Deleted email in "Mail"

Can deleted email messages in Apple's "Mail" be recovered? How?
Somehow, a whole in-box of messages to one of my accounts has disappeared/been deleted.
Using Spotlight, I have a list of email messages sent/received to/from the account.
However, it is not clear to me where these messages might be.
Your help is appreciated.

Re: Deleted email in "Mail"
Depending on how your service provider is set up you may be able to recover your mail from their site. Occasionally when I delete an e-mail that I wanted to keep, I can go to my service provider's "web-mail" and recover it from there. I have to be fast thou, I have my "web-mail" set up so at the end of the day the web-mailbox is emptied to avoid overload.

Re: Deleted email in "Mail"
They still may be in the mail application in the Trash folder depending on how often you have decided to have the application delete messages in the Trash. Double click on the Trash can in the left column and see if they are there.
