Using .mac to manage all email accounts?

I would like to use my .mac email to manage all my email addresses. I have 3 POP email accounts and then a .mac account, I want to utilize IMAP on .mac so I see all messages and folders across my MBP, iPhone, and Web, no matter which device I send email from. I'm thinking I can just forward all my mail from the other accounts to .mac, but I'm not sure if I can select which account to "send from", I still want the emails I send to be sent from that respective account.

I haven't found a good article or thread detailing this. Basically, I just want to see the identical messages and folders across all devices and be able to use all the accounts.

Thanks.

Re: Using .mac to manage all email accounts?
If you have your other account setup in iMail with the appropriate servers for each account specified you can select which account to send the mail from. There's a drop down menu in a new mail window that you use to select the specific account.

Set up correctly iMail will automatically retrieve the mail from the other accounts as well with no forwarding needed. All of the messages will be viewable in Mail and the account it's associated with will be displayed in one of the columns if so desired. You can also sort by account in the viewing list.

To do what you want have each account forward automatically to your .Mac account. The set the Mail preferences on all your devices to leave read messages on the server instead of storing them on the device. That way you would have all messages from all accounts available for all devices running Mail.

Re: Using .mac to manage all email accounts?
Fool.. He specifically requested that if he replies to each email that it comes from that respective account

I personally have the same issue

I have an email address of iandean@london.com Living in london, I dont want to loose that as its the easiest email address in the world to remember.

I want to use .mac or mobile me but Im concerned that all my emails will look like they have come from iandean@me.com

If that is the case, I'll just stick with gmail to collect my emails. Its fast, automatically downloads email from external accounts, has a great spam filter and is free. I would really liek to use mobileme but im not giving up this email address for anything. If apple have not added that ability, they need to rethink why people may not move over.

Each new email from Mail can be set to go out for any of the multiple accounts. There's a menu in the mail window that will let you select the server and account to send from. You can select both the account and server if you'd like in the new email window. Or you can set the default outgoing mail server for each account to your london account for all accounts.

Re: Using .mac to manage all email accounts?
The .Mac account runs with Mail. That's what I'm referring to. If you have a .Mac account and Mail you can use Mail to manage multiple POP accounts in many different ways. Actually you don't need to have a .Mac account to have Mail manage multiple POP accounts.

Re: Using .mac to manage all email accounts?
I like macs... But I've come to the conclusion that most people that use them do so, because they are too stupid to use a PC. Your all so biased.. there are benefits of windows over Macs and vice versa.. but you guys cannot accept that it has flaws.. its just backwards and slows the world down into being a better more improved place.

I like macs. But Im ashamed to be associated with you lot!
