Buy iMac Now?

I know the new iMacs just dropped, and I definitely plan on purchasing one. My question is, should I wait till after WWDC?

It's not likely that they will make another update to the iMac line, but is there a chance that the Mac Pros might see an upgrade? Would this affect the prices of the iMacs? Just looking to see what other people's opinions are, because I don't know if I can wait another month haha.

After thoughts:
Incase anyone wants to suggest anything other than an iMac (ie "get a macbook pro"), I do already have one of the original Macbooks, and do not need another laptop. I just want a desktop machine that will give me a bit more graphical power for light gaming, video editing, and photoshop work.

Welcome to the Forum.

I have no idea about the Mac Book Pros. But, I've never heard of them affecting the price of an iMac.

If you're in the market for an iMac, go for it. You'll love it!

Bob.

Re: Buy iMac Now?
iMacs were just updated, so you'll not see any updates for a few months at best. Generally all of Apple's products are priced independently of each other, so if the MacPro is updated or the price adjusted you'll not see that extended to the iMac (or vice versa for that matter). Its hard to say when the MacPro gets updated because the MacPro has been the most inconsistently updated model.

To summarize, its a very good time to buy the iMac now, because apple just updated the model recently. Go buy it and enjoy the computer. Also realize that there's always a faster model around the corner, don't get sucked into waiting for the next greatest model, because you'll never buy one then.

I pretty much made the purchase after I posted haha! But I am still interested in hearing what people have to say.

-Hi,

Your timing is pretty good for the iMac purchase since Apple has just recently updated the models/price. To get the full performance from your new Mac I'd load the puppy up w/ RAM -->4GB. Especially since you'll be doing video/games.

OWC or Crucial

Hi -derekr,

A question in case you come back. If you did indeed purchase the new iMac what is your thoughts on the glossy display? Some like it some do not. Just curious for any feedback. Thanks...

Re: Buy iMac Now?

-Hi,

Glad you enjoy the new iMac. And thanks for your input. I was at one of the Apple Stores again, and took some additional time to play with one of the iMacs, among other models. Sitting right in front of the iMac didn't seem like a big deal. At an angle is a little different with the glare. But then again the lighting in this store has lots of lights on the walls which doesn't help matters. I was pleased also.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
