iWeb hyperlink to file problem

G'day all

Any iWeb experts out there?

I'm converting my old website to an iWeb version (going well so far!)
and would like some help with making hyperlinks to files please.

I have a list of trip reports (I'm a birdwatcher). The first is a trip to China. The item in the list is:

China - Xinjiang Province: July-August 1998

When I select this text and go to the inspector and link to the file
"xinjiang.pdf" the text changes to the file name. Is that what is
supposed to happen? It's not what I want to happen.

How do I link to 'xinjiang.pdf' without changing the text? I'm probably
missing something simple here but I've looked at some of the tutorials
etc. on the web and can't find what I'm looking for.

My current website is:

Cheers
Steve

Hmm.... I get the same results. I don't think I knew about this, however... if then you just type the word you want to appear there over the file name, it will yield the results you want. Hope this helps...

What you can do is select the text box that the link is in and link it to the pdf file. If the link is in a larger box/paragraph you might have to create a 1% transparent box over the link text and link that to the pdf file. There's an example of a text box linked to a pdf file in this text page down on the lower right.
