ipod touch updated to 1.1.4 but no new apps...

HI everyone,

I just received a new ipod touch which I won a couple months ago. It was still sealed and brand new. Somehow it was an "old" 16gb touch with firmware 1.1.2. I was expecting to pay the upgrade fee to get the email program, etc. BUT it downloaded 1.1.4 as bug fixes for free BUT didn't add the new applications... Why not?

I reconnected the ipod but the firmware is listed as 1.1.4 and neither in the itunes store nor on the apple.com web site can I find the software... Have they taken it offline until 2.0 is ready and will then bundle it with that update?

I searched the net and macworld and didn't find an article... I mostly interested in the email application... Anybody have an idea on what is going on and how I could get the software.

Thanks,

Phillyman

The 1.1.4 firmware itself is free and includes bug and security fixes. It actually contains the additional apps as well, but in order to unlock them, you need to pay the extra fee.

I'm in the same boat as Phillyman. How can I get those new apps to my iPod Touch with 1.1.4 already installed? I see no option for purchasing that $20 upgrade.

Please help Phillyman and me! Thanks :)

Re: ipod touch updated to 1.1.4 but no new apps...
Well, I had the idea of restoring my iPod and then checking for the paid updates, but it just restored it and slapped the 1.1.4 update onto it without asking if I wanted to pay the $20 for the newer applications. I wonder if Apple took took this upgrade away from us poor early iPod Touch purchasers.

Jon Seff, please rescue us... How can we get those applications onto our Touches?

Re: ipod touch updated to 1.1.4 but no new apps...
Sorry, I've been on vacation.

My guess is that Apple pulled the 1.1.4 paid update because the 2.0 software update (which will be cheaper, btw) will probably include those apps as well. Can't say for sure, but that's what I'm thinking. Wait another week and a half and I'm sure Apple will have an answer.
