Reinstalled 10.5 and have no ilife features!!

Hi, i'm new here and reasonably new to macs.

i lately reinstalled Mac OSX 10.5 on my mac (with a partitioned hardrive - xp on other side) expecting to see all the applications i had before nicely lined up on my dock.

but once it had reinstalled i found all the i life '08 applications had gone.

i don't have a clue if theis information will help, but:

i bought my mac just before 10.5 came out so it came with 10.4

i bought mac 10.5 for five pounds (special offer because i bought my mca so close to 10.5 release date)

i installed 10.5 with no problems to find all i life '08 applications present

i have xp installed on a partition with 32GB

i can't remember if i had i life '08 on 10.4

thank you for any help

Re: Reinstalled 10.5 and have no ilife features!!
You more than likely "wiped-out" the iLife programs on your hard drive when you partitioned your hard drive to make the partitions. You should have gotten a copy of iLife with your new computer along with a back-up or re-install disk(s) of your OS (of Tiger 10.4). I also bought a new computer just before the change over from tiger to leopard, and got the "good deal" update to Leopard. I just did an archive and install when I switched over to Leopard so my iLife was intact. When partitioning, I believe the drive is more or less a "clean install" wiping the H-D and then installing the OS. You might check your disks to see if you can find your copy of iLife that came with the original computer. ILife does not require a serial number for an install.

Hi
Correct. ILife and Leopard are different products and so reinstalling the OS ( Leopard,... ) won't include the iLife applications ( iPhoto, iWeb, ... ). If you purchased iLife '08 separately from your Mac, install from the iLife '08 DVD. If iLife '08 came with your Mac...

It wouldn't hurt to ask........ the worst they could say is no. But before you do that you might want to check again the disk(s) you got with your computer. When I got mine (just before the release of Leopard) I got the OS back-up (Tiger re-install), iLife and a 30-day trial version of iWork. Your iLife copy may be filed away with the Tiger OS install disk.

What I would do is to restore from the original disks that came with the computer(10.4, I think you said). Then using your update disks (for 10.5) do an archive and install over the 10.4 installation. All should be good then. Unless of course you want to purchase iLife 08

Hi
It's part of the Install / Restore DVDs. Did you check out the knowledge base article I linked to?

1. Back up your essential files. This is a wise precaution even though you won't be erasing the volume.
2. nsert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer.
3. Double-click "Install Bundled Software Only."
4. Follow the onscreen instructions as follows:
a. Select the destination.
b. Click Continue.
c. Click Upgrade to install all the applications or click Customize to select which packages to install.
d. If you click Customize, you'll see a list of applications that you can select to install, or deselect to not install, like this:

5. Continue following the onscreen instructions to complete the install.
