Network Printing and XP

I have HP 4000 tn connected via the network. I can get all the macs in the house to see it and print. But unable to get it to work on WinXP on the MacBook. I am missing something.

Re: Network Printing and XP

I am tryimg to print from XP over my D-Link wireless print server. It works fine from the MacBook but from VM Fusion a test page just hangs. I've tried VM network NAT and Bridged settings, setting the printer to shared under MAC System Preferences, etc.

Nothing seems to work. Have you had any luck?

Regards

Re: Network Printing and XP
Network printing from Fusion can get pretty tricky. Version 2 helps this a lot, and is in beta. Once it's finalized, I'd suggest giving it a try (I had a few issues with the Beta and went back to Version 1). I haven't yet set up printing in Version 1 so I can't be of immediate help.

Thanks for the post... I have a 3:00 PM slot today with the Genius Bar so I'll see what they say. Unfortunately this is a perfect storm for finger pointing between Apple, VMware, and Microsoft!

Re: Network Printing and XP
Problem solved! I just got back from Apple... We googled "wireless printing VMware fusion" and found this VMware printing tutorial in the first "hit", Apple - Support - Discussions:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1003891&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&dialogID=58556624&stateId=0%200%2058552982

I looked at the tutorial and ended up downloading Bonjour from within Windows. I set the VM network to Bridged and used the Bonjour setup routine to install the printer. The printer must be set to shared on MAC system preferences.

I hope this helps...
