Problem connecting to laptop (local networking)

HI everyone,

here my dilemma, macbook pro running 10.5 (but already had this problem with 10.4). It's setup to allow file sharing for numerous users. It shows up in the shared list of my macbook (10.5) but I can't connect (will just think about it but won't connect). On my desktop computer (10.4) It's alias shows up under network but then I only get the error message looking up "mbp.local" . I've tried changing the computer's name, the alias changes but still I can't connect!

I've tried to directly connect to it through it's ip not only through afp but also ftp access; it never goes through.

The other way around from the macbook pro to the other computers no problem. I presume it's some file/pref that's corrupted and would like to trash it, to reset the file sharing but sadly have no clue which one.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Phillyman
