Re: Apple releases iPhone software 2.0.2
I'm downloading it now. Thanks for the heads up!

You know, year one with my iPhone was good. It was an enjoyable experience overall. Year two has me looking at the end of my contract in July 2009 wondering what I might do. Some of my options do not include an iPhone. Just today I had the first page of my home screen go blank; the other three pages were there, but the first one was completely blank. A quick shutdown and restart restored it, but I don't need the hassle of a phone that can go belly up when I need it. It's not cute or funny, not at this price.

Re: Apple releases iPhone software 2.0.2
Let me take this opportunity to thank Apple and Jobs for following thru on 2.0, and releasing it as a free update to 1.0 users! As an early adopter (Jun 29th, 2007), the update was like getting a new phone, the one I had hoped for.

Downside of 2.0, though, was the instability it introduced: my iPhone would sometimes seize/freeze temporarily, whether when entering the screen password, using apps, browsing Safari, or when making calls, etc. This was something rarely encountered in pre-2.0 days.

I'm downloading the update now: let's hope 2.02 fixes some of the bugs that are always inherent with the improvements!

You didn't update to 2.0.1?

Yeah, I did, but 2.0.1 didn't seem to address the increased instability introduced by 2.0.0. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 2.0.2.

Re: Apple releases iPhone software 2.0.2
I have a 16GB 1st gen iPhone and downloaded 2.0 then 2.0.1 as soon as they came out. I don't use .Mac or MobileMe but I do use several new apps from the App Store. My iPhone has been stable and problem-free throughout the entire time I've owned it.

I know others have been having a miserable time since 2.0 was released, but I thought I should make known that at least one person hasn't had a single glitch.

I'm downloading 2.0.2 right now. Hopefully it should be even better and faster than 2.0.1, and I look forward to a continuation of trouble-free operation.

The ongoing issue of being unable to hear voicemails with a bluetooth headset still persists after all the updates with the original iPhone. Anyone else find a way to make it work?

I installed the 2.0.2 software in my G3 iPhone and couldn't be happier. It seems to be noticeably snappier. My iPhone has yet to lock-up or crash - it's a pleasure to use.

Does it fix the issue where updated apps take forty eight million years to update?

Re: Apple releases iPhone software 2.0.2
Now that I've updated to 2.0.2, my App updates aren't going through very smoothly. I'm unable to install updates from my phone, and when i update them in iTunes, there aren't synced to the phone. I have to delete the app completely from both locations, and then download if in iTunes. Then and only then can i sync it to my phone. What is going on here???

Re: Apple releases iPhone software 2.0.2
Has anyone else noticed an increase in battery life while having push activated from v 2.0? Mine now makes it through the day pretty easily with all the features enabled (3G, Wifi, Push, etc.). I am hoping they made it even better with 2.0.2!

Well I'm being cautious this time and waiting to see what others say about the update. Having said that, I doubt things could get much worse. Two days ago, all my 3rd party apps died.

Re: Apple releases iPhone software 2.0.2

@SheLivesRed: this is exatly the problem i got with my 1st Gen and 2.0.1.

well, deleting 3rd party apps to reinstall is lame, but more lame is that apple doesn´t allow these apps separate preference files, so you have to put in account datas and the like on and on. hoped 2.0.2 will fix it.

(besides: i also got some trouble since version 2, mostly i think my phone is slowing down - and i´m very familiar with troubleshooting workarrounds, because i work for t-mobile germany and have to do it for many iPhones to satisfy my customers.)

Re: Apple releases iPhone software 2.0.2
Well I threw caution to the wind as my morning meeting was cancelled. Over two hours later and I'm still crawling through the backup part of the update. There doesn't seem to be any option to cancel this backup although it has progressed further than any of the others that I've tried to make over the last 3 weeks. If I'd known it would have taken this long, I would have left updating until this evening. As it is, I've got to manage without my iPhone for the rest of the afternoon while it crawls through the whole updating process.

Re: Apple releases iPhone software 2.0.2
Spoke with a Genius at Apple. They told me not to waste my time with back ups. Once sync starts and then changes to backup just x it out. There is no need to back up Apps each time. Much quicker. Have not really seen any changes with latest update. have had issues with dropped calls at times as well as gargling and echo. Live in 3g saturated area.
