Audible GPS on the iPhone yet?

My wife travels a lot on business and really depends on audible driving directions given over her cell phone's speaker so she doesn't have to take her eyes off unfamiliar highways while driving unfamiliar cars.

It appears that the iPhone's GPS feature is only visual, not audible, so that you have to look at the screen to see where you are, where to turn, etc, which wouldn't be safe for her under the circumstances.

Is there a GPS app in the App Store that provides audible driving directions?

Unfortunately, there are no turn-by-turn GPS direction apps available for the iPhone. TomTom said it was working on such a thing months ago, but there's been no movement on that front. I'm hoping we'll see something soon, but we just don't know.

I have a Garmin GPS that I take when I travel (at least when I know I'll be driving). You might want to consider a portable GPS unit for her, one that announces streets by name.
