Converting Powerpoint to Keynote

Alright, keynote "looks" significantly better than the latest powerpoint, even with its "different" approach to learning how to use it. I have some older "ppt" files that have embedded shockwave and html files in them. Is there any way to get them to play in a keynote presentation? I have tried to import them into quicktime, but that did not work. I have also tried to load them as a webpage and have not success there either. Has anyone found a work-around for this?

Re: Converting Powerpoint to Keynote
Have you tried opening in 3rd party software such as NeoOffice or OpenOffice.org?

Re: Converting Powerpoint to Keynote
Yes, however if you use a 3rd party this can see if this is because it is something proprietary that office does, or simply a problem with ppt to keynote conversion. Have you tried saving to a different format than you have been using? What format have you been using? ppt or pptx?

Re: Converting Powerpoint to Keynote
You've found iWork's sore point. It is generally easy to convert an iWork file
to its MS Office equivalent. It is often fatal to try to go the other way. MS
Office is a much more complex and mature package. As such its files can
use features that iWork doesn't have, so those features will (at best) not
import.

Re: Converting Powerpoint to Keynote
I just thought of a workaround, take a video of the videos or entire presentation (you can save as a .mov from ppt) or convert the movies to a diferent format, and place them in you kynt presentation
