Re: capturing video through fw400/800 on the new MBP?
I had problems daisy chaining a Canon camcorder and firewire drives into either the 400 or 800 port last year. I finally just plugged the camera into the port and used the internal drive. Before I posted this answer though I checked around and found this link to an Apple support page. I may have had the wrong format on the external hard drive. From what I read, Apple says it will work. I may try again during the Christmas season to see if I can get it working.

Re: capturing video through fw400/800 on the new MBP?
Thanks, Yeah right now I do not have enough space on my internal drive to try and import the length of video I want to...at least not on a consistent basis. I did however read on a related board that rendering video can be hindered by the speed of the drive/s. Right now I have two 7200 fw drives and two slower, which leads me believe that that may have some ramifications in the capturing through a daisy chain as well....but not certain answer has been found so far.
Thanks, I'll continue to post whatever I find.
