Concept Antivirus for Mac from BitDefender

Since that news about apple needing antivirus I have been reading alot of stuff. So I stumbled upon this news on BD forums, which I am a big fan as an antivirus for PC. What do you think about it? Should I try it on my MacBook?

I'm a noob and I have it for about 3 weeks now.

"As many users are starting to use an antivirus to protect their
PC-Mac network or even their dual-boot computers, it’s now our pleasure
to announce a project that we’ve been working on for the past few
months: BitDefender Antivirus 2009 for Mac, a new concept product
designed to provide antivirus protection for your Macs.

The beta1 kit is ready for download at the BitDefender Beta Center and
it includes the following main features:

• On-demand Scanner
• Real-time Antivirus Protection
• Automatic Malware Signatures and Engine Updates
• Automatic product Updates

BitDefender Antivirus 2009 for Mac deals with several types of known or
„in-the-wild” malware types: viruses, trojans, spyware, backdoors,
rootkits (on Windows). As new threats appear, the list will be
supplemented in the following signature updates. The product filters
and cleans up Internet, e-mail, instant messaging downloads and not
only. Its dual protection capability ensures that Mac machines with
both Mac OS X and Win installed are free from threat.
So, if you own a Mac, give this fresh beta a try and send us your
feedback (bugs included). We would also welcome any ideas on the
usability of the product’s user interface.

To submit feature requests and bug reports, you need to create a
BitDefender beta tester account. If you already have an account from a
previous BitDefender beta campaign, please use the same username and
password. Otherwise, go to Beta - Beta BitDefender Program and
subscribe to the BitDefender Antivirus 2009 for Mac Beta Concept
campaign. Please note that the bugs you submit will be confirmed, fixed
and marked as such in the next beta release.

Enjoy your BitDefender Beta Testing experience!
The BitDefender Team."

Re: Concept Antivirus for Mac from BitDefender

Until I see a mac that has active malware or other invasive trojan I would stay clear of any added software. Your habits are much more important. Be careful with attachments in emails. Run a hardware firewall (router). The rest is just noise right now.
